Add a software citation Log message The Log message needs to be a flexible section of Text (possibly containing html links).

We should log it on startup of Mantid (at a high enough level that it will always appear and make the log window visible if it is hidden). Also we should either:

  • add the same information to the help->about box
  • create a help->citation menu item

Coming up with the citation message it up to Nick - Badger him for it!

The Message for now will have to be simpler than it will be eventually.

Just go for

Welcome to Mantid - Manipulation and Analysis Toolkit for Instrument Data

Also can we alter what the Mantid script startup does otherwise the message will disappear of the screen.

Just replace the list of algorithms with

Type mtdHelp() to get a list of algorithms
