Improve accessibility for simple GUI

Description

Promote common visualisation options to top view or to easy-access menus. Changing colour ranges, changing visualisation type (surface, volume) are the types of operation that the users will need to get to quickly.

Note that this is not the last-word on the screen layout, this functionality will have to be reviewed after exposure to users.

The color range is being handled by #2960. The vis type has been spun off into another ticket, #3228, for the next iteration.

Color/animation/rebinning/views all accessible directly on top of main window. We have a few known bugs resulting from these changes, which will need to be addressed in the next iteration.
