Mac: Fresh instrument view contains noise in first frame

Description

To reproduce on the Mac:

  • Start a fresh MantidPlot
  • Load a data file (anything should do)
  • Click show instrument
  • The display is full of noise until you interact with it.

A strange occurrence is if you load a different file from the same instrument and call show instrument on that then the first frame is fine. If, however, you load a file from a different instrument the first frame is then back to rubbish.
