Big memory leak

Description

After running several tests a lot of memory was lost. It is not returned by "Clear all memory" or deleting workspaces.

I had

  1. Loaded a one spectra nexus file
  2. loaded and deleted 5000 merlin spectra
  3. loaded a gem file
  4. Then the mantid plot process reported 1.5GB memory usage

I can't reproduce this. Seems like it was some effect resulting from tests prior to the ones described here.
