its fixed as pr https://github.com/mantidproject/mantid/pull/604 and single commit is referenced there (went to wrong ticket)

Invalid IDF written in nexus files for LET.

Its a hack necessary until #11565 is properly fixed. Its applicable for some LET runs and clears up instrument definition from memory, when the data are loaded from nexus file.
