Browsing of large directories is slow on Redhat

Description

From Rob Dalgliesh:

Using the file load button and browse looking at a local folder with a reasonable number of files on a local disk hits the CPU to 100% and takes 10s. Even navigating to the / folder takes a perceptively long time. The responsiveness of the interface is such that you can select a file and actually finish up with the wrong one. It doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as slow on windows.

There is a bug logged with Qt, http://qt.nokia.com/developer/task-tracker/index_html?method=entry&id=248332, regarding this. It was actually found in 4.5 but I guess 4.4.3 could have had it too.

On my Ubuntu box with 4.6 I don't see the issue. It still takes a while to index a large folder but it's only slow when you navigate to that folder and not others.

This hasn't been seen for quite some time. I'm assuming a Qt fix has solved the issue.
