plotting from workspaces sidebar bug linux osx and occasionally windows

Reported by: Jon Taylor Owned by: Owen Arnold
Priority: blocker Milestone: Release 2.0
Component: Mantid Keywords:
Cc: Blocked By:
Blocking: Tester: Nick Draper

Description

On osx and linux If one right clicks on a workspace in the workspace sidebar and selects plot spectrum the plot controls on the toolbar remain greyed out and there is no possibility to adjust the plot by clicking on it. This has aslo been seen in the windows build and is associated with the data workspace matrix not appearing in the mantid plot desktop. I.e. if the matrix appears everything works if it does not nothing works

A quick investigation showed up another bug that would make this just as unusable if we did the quick fix. There seems to be something odd with MultiLayer plots on the Mac. All of the other subwindow types get treated correctly with regards to window activation but the MultiLayer doesn't.

Bumped to iteration 31 to be fixed properly.

During unscripted testing it also became apparent that from plotting a 1D histogram you cannot then interact with the graph in anyway because the app thinks nothing is activated.

A current workaround is to right-click on the workspace and create a detector table which seems to force the activation of the other windows.

Tested with the latest nightly build on Ubuntu and can't reproduce issue version 1.32.2842

Can't reproduce this issue on the Mac or Windows any longer. Jon Taylor has also confirmed that this issue is no longer present. Exactly where the fix came is unknown.

slightly nervous, but I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Perhaps this is a bonus from our increased hygiene on compiler warnings etc.
