To test: Open a 3D MDEventWorkspace file (hint: AutoTestData/TOPAZ_3680_5_sec_MDEW.nxs) in the simple interface and the switch to the splatter plot view. Add a peaks workspace (hint: AutoTestData/TOPAZ_3680_10_sec_40.peaks) overlay. Then switch back to the standard view. The original data you saw when loading the first dataset should reappear.

The steps described above work fine, however I have spotted this issue, I'm not sure if it is related:

  • Open a 3D MDEW.
  • Do nothing and add a peaks workspace
  • The 4 "mode" buttons get greyed out, and you can only get them back by deleting both workpsaces from the view and adding them back.

Not quite. The peaks overlay is special to the splatter plot mode. In the standard view, when a peaks workspace is opened all view modes are disabled. If those view modes are allowed, switching to them with a peaks workspace causes a crash. Hence that's why you can only use standard view or the splatter mode with overlay to see a peaks workspace.

Shouldn't then only the 3-slice and multislice buttons be disabled, leaving the Standard/splatter buttons on?

I'll make another ticket to deal with that issue. However, this one should be closed because the reported issue is fixed.

Yes, this seems to ditch the peaks PV source upon the switch.
