BinMD: bin a MDHistoWorkspace directly (without going to events)

Reported by: Janik Zikovsky Owned by: Owen Arnold
Priority: major Milestone: Backlog
Component: GUI Keywords:
Cc: Blocked By:
Blocking: Tester:

Description

  • Currently, BinMD on MDHisto goes to the original MDEventWorkspace to rebin. This is good when the MDHisto is the result of BinMD.
  • However, it will NOT work directly on the MDHisto.
  • Use the overlapping polygon code of SofQW2 to perform rebinning by assuming that each bin of MDHisto is uniformly filled and distribute in the output.
  • Possibly limit to 2D slices for simplicity!

Hi Owen,

Michael and Martyn should know a lot about the polygon overlap rebinning algorithms. I think it is reasonable to limit to slices that are 2D: that is, pick two dimensions out of the N dimensions, and choose a parallelogram shape within those 2 dimensions. The other dimensions would all be perpendicular to this plane with a given thickness.
