Create a PSI muon file reader

Write a reader that will allow these files to be used with the Muon interface.

Two Data files have been added to SystemTests\Data\PSI There is a C++ class for reading the binary format here ​http://lmu.web.psi.ch/facilities/software.html

This is for Anna Williams [arw004@…] and we will need to contact her directly once the changes are available in a development version.

That is fantastic, thank you. I have attached two datafiles as I was uncertain whether transverse or longitudinal field data would be preferable. If these files do not have sufficient events I can attach more as the runs were split into segments to be recombined in the analysis, at least in the case of the LF experiment.

I can see from the PSI website they have a C++ class for reading the files, so we would base our reader on this.  We would need a good example file to test with so if you could send us one of yours we would treat it as confidential, but it would allow us to test the new code.  In terms of timeline we are busy testing the a new release of Mantid right now, and will have our hands full until mid August, and then we should be able to create something for you by the end of August.
 
If this does not fit with your deadlines I noticed some conversion tools on the psi website http://lmu.web.psi.ch/facilities/software.html  , and you may be able to get  something working with those, but it will require  a certain amount of trial and error.

I was recently introduced to Mantid and find it to be a fantastic package for muon analysis. I had been hoping to use it to analyse some data obtained at PSI, but Mantid cannot open the .bin data that I have. I had been hoping that you might be able to refer me towards an add-on that would provide this, or suggest something that might be capable of translating the .bin files into a filetype that Mantid can read.
