There is a strange behaviour with starting the ORNL SANS interface. If I ever start the DGSreduction interface, the next time I start the ORNL SANS interface, I actually get the DGSreduction one! Platform: Fedora 18 and RHEL 6.3

comment:5 Changed 8 years ago by Martyn Gigg

Is this still happening? It seems okay on our RHEL6 machine.

I've played with it a bit on Ubuntu 12.04 using the system tests as guidance for what files to use and it seems to do the right things.

Minor issues raised:

As I say I don't see the same problem as noted above so I'm not going to close it until someone else can confirm things are okay.

comment:8 Changed 8 years ago by Stuart Campbell

It seems to be related to what your default instrument/facility is. Try setting your default to ARCS and see if you see the problem.

Testing on Ubuntu 12.04 and RHEL6.

Raised the following issues:

Seems to work OK while trying various operations and not really knowing quite what I'm doing. Found the Data Catalog tab to be nice and made a nice stitched plot of data.

When selecting a facility, 'ISIS' appears but has no instruments and OK can still be clicked (But it just re-opens the same dialogue). it could be argued that it shouldn't appear in the list if it has no options or the ok button shouldn't become active unless both drop downs have a valid selection.

See #7588

If the reduction fails it outputs to an XML file and gives a generic error message. The error message could be more helpful by saying what the error actually is without the user having to dive into an error log.

Had a play (on OSX) and it seems to be behaving OK. Did have an oddity on my Windows VM where some of the widgets are simply not appearing, but checked on 3 other (cleaner) machines and that was not the case on them.
