Problems with international usage

Reported by: Nick Draper Owned by:

Description

Two specific cases were mentinoed:

  1. in a locale (europe) where commas are used as the decimal point mantid will not accept this
  2. in a locale (Japan, China) where the yen character is used for the (/ or is it \) character, mantid cannot handle this in paths leaading to crashed. (this one is alsmost certainly a problem of handling paths and slashes ourself rather than using Poco or python os classes.

Raise how to prevent / path addition with TSC

comment:4 Changed 6 years ago by Martyn Gigg

Time estimate is for improving the path handling within Mantid to use Path classes: 2 weeks

The internationalization seems like a decision has to be by the PMB as to whether effort required, which I think is enormous, is worth it.
